Hallo everybody,
From a private local source in Jablunkov, I learned that the camp was built in 1941 for German Wehrmacht needs, for the preparation of young people for future serving in German army, by the RAD Reichsarbeitsdienst. The commander in Jablunkov was since 1942 a German called Wum.
Italy capitulated during autumn of 1943 and Germany placed some of this allied soldiers in this camp. It seems also that the camp served in 1943 as collecting place for the Jews during the "treatment" of the Jews from the environment.
Before the end of WW2, the "Vlasov army" was placed there. In 1944-45 the camp was also used as collecting place for extern Jews, probably from Hungary.
In April 1945 two or three German canons were there ready for intervention. On 2 May 1945 Jablunkov was "freed" by the Soviet Red army.
During 1945 the camp was also used as "assembly place" for the local people of German nationality before they were transported to Germany according with the agreement of allied powers.
Has somebody memory, souvenirs or pictures of this period from 1941 till after 1945 ? It would be very interesting for the reconstitution of the
history of Jablunkov. I don't understand the position of the Burgomaster from Jablunkov where I wrote allready four times without any response, who will forget this important part of the history from the city.
